WHAT IS HAPPENING: Having married Katharina who had a reputation as being wilful and ungovernable (the ‘shrew’ of the play’s title) Petruchio is now ‘taming’ her the way men train wild hawks. Petruchio is reporting to the audience on how his ‘taming’ is progressing.
