In an Iraqi interrogation room, Sayid is confronted with a prisoner from his past, Nadia, whom he used to know as a child. As he attempts to interrogate her for information on a bombing, she reveals the horrific scars of her previous torture, forcing Sayid to grapple with his loyalty to the Republican Guard and his personal connection to her.
Sayid confronts the mysterious Danielle Rousseau in the jungle, only to discover she has sabotaged his weapon and killed her own team to prevent a 'sickness' from spreading. As Rousseau struggles with her crushing loneliness and paranoia, Sayid attempts to connect with her through his own grief before she leaves him with a cryptic warning about his fellow survivors.
Hurley reveals a makeshift two-hole golf course he built in the jungle to provide the survivors with a much-needed distraction. While Michael and Jack are initially skeptical of the 'waste of time,' Hurley argues that they need a sense of normalcy and fun to prevent them from going crazy while waiting for the next disaster.
