Why classical monologues matter
Every major drama school in the UK — RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, Royal Central — requires at least one classical piece at audition. The classical canon tests the actor's relationship with heightened language, verse structure, and physical stillness. A well-chosen classical speech can distinguish an applicant more than three contemporary pieces.
