As the island burns and the townspeople transform into monsters, Father Paul realizes the horrific mistake he has made in bringing the 'miracle' to his parish. He attempts to repent, but the fanatical Beverly Keane turns on him, using scripture to justify his exclusion from her 'ark' and condemning him alongside his former lover.
