The Party Crashers
from Noughts + Crosses
Written by Malorie Blackman, Levi David Addai, Matthew Graham
During a high-society political gathering, Lekan attempts to humiliate Callum, a Nought servant, by questioning his political allegiances in front of powerful Crosses. Callum delivers a sharp, diplomatic response that earns the respect of the room's patriarch, Kamal, while heightening the romantic tension and social danger between himself and Sephy.
LEKAN: I don’t know if you gentlemen are aware, but one of our number is on the brink of acceptance into Mercy Point. No, don't look around, he's here. Kale- erm, isn’t it?
CALLUM: Callum.
LEKAN: Question for you: suppose you got into Mercy Point, where does your loyalty lie, with Albion or Aprica?
CALLUM: It’s the same as every soldier's, sir. To his or her Commanding Officer. As for their allegiance, I suppose that’s a matter for their own conscience.
