Kate, still clinging to the belief that her son Larry is alive, confronts Ann, Larry's former fiancée, about her feelings. Chris, Larry's brother, tries to interject, but Kate insists that Ann, deep down, also believes Larry will return, revealing her own desperate need for this belief.
Act I — Chris and Keller Discuss Annie
Characters: CHRIS, KELLER
Chris confronts his father, Keller, about their shared dishonesty with Chris's mother regarding the presumed death of his brother, Larry. Chris then reveals his intention to propose to Annie, Larry's former girlfriend, which deeply troubles Keller due to his wife's enduring belief that Larry is still alive.
