The Lawyer's Prejudice
Characters: Paul Edgecomb, Burt Hammersmith
Paul Edgecomb visits a public defender to investigate the past of John Coffey, a death row inmate he suspects might be innocent. The lawyer uses a chilling and prejudiced analogy about a family dog to explain his belief that even seemingly gentle individuals are capable of sudden, inexplicable violence.
Paul's Doubts About Coffey's Guilt
Characters: Paul, Brutal, Dean, Harry, Jan
During a tense dinner, Paul Edgecomb reveals to his fellow guards that the inmate John Coffey possesses supernatural healing powers.
