The Ant Hill

Broulard uses a combination of flattery, veiled threats, and the promise of a promotion to manipulate Dax into accepting the suicidal mission, while Dax grapples with his responsibility to his men.

Colonel Dax is ordered by General Mireau to lead his regiment in a suicidal assault on a German stronghold known as 'The Ant Hill.' Dax attempts to reason with Mireau about the impossible odds and the certain death of his men, leading to a tense confrontation about duty, patriotism, and the value of human lives in wartime.
Lieutenant Roget and Corporal Paris Confrontation
Characters: LIEUTENANT ROGET, CORPORAL PARIS
A corporal confronts his lieutenant, accusing him of cowardice and murder during a patrol. The lieutenant attempts to intimidate the corporal with threats of insubordination charges, but the corporal retaliates with his own accusations, leading to a tense standoff over whose word will be believed.
