Choose Life
Characters: Renton
Mark Renton delivers a cynical, fast-paced manifesto against consumerist society while fleeing from store detectives and experiencing the highs and lows of heroin addiction. The monologue juxtaposes the mundane expectations of middle-class life with the chaotic, gritty reality of his own existence.
The Job Interview
Characters: Spud, Man 1, Man 2, Woman
Spud attempts to sabotage a job interview while high on speed to ensure he continues receiving unemployment benefits without actually getting hired. He oscillates between manic honesty about lying on his application and bizarre, inappropriate tangents about his violent friends, much to the bewilderment of the panel.
